The Feds
@ The Hurricane (Kansas City, MO)

November 27th, 1999
Review by Jacque Mocnik

First of all, let me say that I am admittedly biased. I love the Feds and I love going to Feds shows. These are some of the coolest and nicest guys, and their music really rocks. I always have fun at their shows and must say that the local music scene already misses them terribly (even if they’ve only been in Texas for a week).

In case you’re wondering what I’m referring to, yes, the Feds have re-located. The boys now call Denton, Texas their home. Of course, KC will always be ‘home’ to them as well, and I know that they’ll be back often enough to keep their loyal fans content – so fear not. You’ll still be able to get your dose of their brand of rock.

The guys opened the show with their energetic crowd-pleaser, "Apples," which will surely hit the radio waves hard as soon as their new CD, Kickball Player, hits the stores. Excitement and energy just poured from the stage during their set, which I just love to watch. You can just feel the intensity and enjoyment they get from being on stage. From Matt jumping all over the place to Glen rocking out on the drums, it quickly becomes impossible to just stand there and watch a show – you just gotta move!

As the group rocked through their set, the crowd just became more excited. "Turn the Page" was one of many set highlights (and one of my more favorite songs), and they ended their set with "Damage," another melodically tight piece.

The boys have definitely matured in their style since Demo ’97 – and Kickball Player will definitely be winning them some serious attention. Be sure to check their website at www.thefeds.org, and of course, be sure to check them out when they come back through the area again. Their energetic sets prove that these guys really love what they do – and you will too.
